Building / Renovating - Pre-Wiring

Thinking of building a new house or renovating a current house? Make sure you take in consideration any visual/audio setup you maybe using and talk to us about what we can do to make the installation of this equipment easier.

Pre-Wiring

Why do I need it?

Pre-wiring is an essential part of building process that should be considered by everyone especially if you are looking at installing your current system, a new theatre and/or music system or a full house system including lighting control and automation.

The main reasons for pre-wiring your house:

  • It saves money and a little planning now, will save headaches later.
  • No ugly wires running around your house.
  • It allows you to have a larger choice of variety and systems when buying.
  • The wiring that is installed can suit a multitude of different systems.

How to decide what needs pre-wiring?

If you would like your home pre-wired, you don’t need to go out and look at all the different systems on the market, how much you need to spend, you will have enough decisions to make with tiles, carpets etc. Prices and products also change regularly, so you don’t want to be locked into a purchase if something better comes out before you install the final system.

What needs considering is the following:

  • What do I want for my Visual Source e.g. Projector, LCD or Plasma Panel.
  • What type of front & rear speakers would I like to run e.g. Floorstanding, Bookshelf, in-wall, in-ceiling etc.
  • Am I interested in Multi-Room

This way we can run the cabling to suit your choice, and if you don't know what type, we can wire to suit a couple of different options, just ask us and we will be happy to help you.

How much will it cost?

Depending on the amount of product you want to wire for, a basic home theatre system can be as little as $200-$300.

Why not get my electrician to do the wiring?

Your Electrician is trained in 240V Power, and usually doesn’t work with Home theatre systems every day like we do. They are not exposed to the latest technologies and most electricians use a "figure 8 flex" speaker cable, which is designed for low wattage background PA systems which would not run your equipment. Also consider the hourly rate of an Electrician VS what we charge per hour.

Does this mean I have to buy off you?

No, you can buy from whomever you wish, all we would like is the opportunity to give you a quote.

What if Technologies change, or I change my mind?

Technologies will always change and people change their minds – Fantastically the cabling stays the same. The cabling that we install is versatile and can be adapted so you can be confident that the wiring we put in should suit whatever tomorrow brings.
